To enrich the cultural landscape of Lemont by fostering the production and appreciation of the arts.
A Chicagoland native, MaryAnn Nowak resides with her family in Tinley Park. As a lover of the arts, she tries to capture her love of life, people, and learning in her work. With training in horticulture and photography, she is able to convey the unique life and energy associated with each subject, ranging from portraits to landscapes. MaryAnn prefers to work in pastels for the artistic challenge that they provide as well as the richness of color and depth. As part of her artistic process, she enjoys working from photographs and with each piece tries to convey that, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
She has taken classes at the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago School of Art and Design, American Academy of Art, and McCord Gallery and Cultural Center. She has also studied with Mary Aslin, Harley Brown, John Howard, Beth Leahy, Michael McNicholas, Liz Wall and Gary Wick.
