Lemont Center for the Arts

To enrich the cultural landscape of Lemont by fostering the production and appreciation of the arts.

Cyn O’Brien – Artis of the Month May 2015

Cyn O’Brien is an accomplished water-colorist and art instructor based in Homer Glen, IL and a member of the Lemont Artists Guild. She has been painting professionally since 1996 after leaving a career in the cosmetics industry. Some of her favorite subjects are portrait, figures and animals. Her house portraits take on an ethereal quality going beyond light and shadow. You can almost hear the sound of the water in her seascapes.
Cyn has been teaching art classes in the Explorers after school program and coordinates the summer Arts in Action workshops for Homer Glen students. She has also taught in Lemont at the River Valley School during art week, as well as at The Lemont Center for the Arts.
Some of Cyn’s upcoming projects include teaching “An Artistic Adventure” summer program with Montessori School of Lemont, a demonstration in watercolor at the Reed School in Lockport, and continuing her private lessons from her home studio. She has recently revisited painting in acrylic through her “Original Cyn’s Paint Parties” for adults and children. She is passionate about sharing her love of art while having fun at the same time.
